Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP)

What are Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP)?

Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) is an open-source project created by Google that allows developers to create web pages that load quickly on mobile devices. It works by using a streamlined version of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript that reduces the amount of code needed to render a page. The result is lightning-fast loading times for websites on mobile devices — even with large images and complex layout elements or on a low-end mobile device with slow internet connections.

How Does AMP Work?

AMP pages loaded faster because the Accelerated Mobile Pages project aims to reduce redundant code and strip away unnecessary elements from web pages. This is done by removing large files such as images and videos, which can slow down page loading times dramatically when not optimized properly.

AMP allows developers to take advantage of caching techniques that store commonly used data in memory. With Google AMP cache, web pages can be quickly accessed without reloading them whenever they are visited.

AMP also uses advanced compression algorithms to significantly reduce file sizes while maintaining quality visuals. An AMP page is designed with better readability in mind; all images and videos appear as intended on the mobile web without having to wait for the page to fully load before they become visible.

Why Should You Use AMP?

Using AMP helps you provide a better user experience for your visitors because AMP HTML pages load faster. This also helps with SEO because search engines want to give their users the best possible experience.

Google prioritizes AMP pages over non-AMP. Therefore, you will also benefit from increased visibility within Google search results—which means more traffic for your website.

Having an AMP version of your web page means more people will be able to find and access your site while they’re on the go, thus increasing engagement with your AMP landing pages. People are more likely to read or watch something if they don’t have to wait a long time for the page to load or if it isn’t clunky and slow on their phones. Plus, AMP-enabled pages look great no matter what device they’re viewed on.

An AMP project is very easy to implement – all you need to do is add some extra HTML code to your existing HTML markup, and you're good to go! Plus, there are plenty of tools out there that can help you create and customize pages built with AMP. You don't have to worry about coding everything yourself if you don't want to.
