An adult daughter in Hobart is awake at 11pm. Her dad fell again last week. She types her question into ChatGPT. The AI gives her an answer. Your operator isn't in it.
This is happening every day, in every city in Australia.
The shift from search engines to answer engines is the biggest change in how aged care families find providers since My Aged Care launched.
And almost no Australian aged care operator is ready for it.
We ran nine of the most common research questions adult children ask, across Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Perplexity.
For broad commercial questions like "best aged care home in Sydney" or "home care provider near me", no top-25 operator was cited. Aggregators were. Aged Care Guide, Caring Co, My Aged Care, Aged Care Decisions. They captured the answer. The operators captured nothing.
Two operators broke the pattern. HammondCare appears for dementia queries. St Vincent's Care appears for general queries.
The difference isn't their marketing budget. It's that they built content the AI can actually read.
That content gap is what we close.
Aged care is not one thing. It's a continuum. Families don't pick a "category", they pick what fits the moment their parent is in. Each modality below has its own search behaviour, its own AI visibility pattern, and its own opportunity.
Support delivered in the older person's own home. Personal care, nursing, cleaning, transport, social support. Most often funded under a Home Care Package (HCP) or, from late 2025, the new Support at Home programme.
Buyer: Adult child of a parent still living independently but struggling.
Self-contained villas, units, or apartments for older Australians who can still live independently. Community amenities, optional services, no clinical care on-site. Sometimes called over-55s living, lifestyle villages, or independent living communities.
Buyer: The senior themselves, often with adult children involved in the decision.
The middle ground. Independent apartments with optional services such as meals, cleaning, and visiting health support. Often part of a larger retirement village or co-located with residential care.
Buyer: Adult child planning ahead, or senior preparing for a step up in support.
24/7 care for older people who can no longer live independently. Personal care, nursing, allied health, dementia and palliative care. Government-subsidised, ACAT assessment required. Sometimes called nursing homes, aged care facilities, or rest homes.
Buyer: Adult child in crisis or post-event (hospitalisation, fall, dementia diagnosis).
Dementia care units, palliative care, respite care, secure care. Can be standalone or embedded within residential or home care offerings. Highest emotional stakes, deepest research behaviour, strongest opportunity for AI citation.
Buyer: Adult child researching a specific condition or need.
We build AI search visibility across all five. Most operators run two or three. The strongest opportunity is usually the one your competitors aren't talking about.
We're not a marketing agency. We're a specialist search consultancy that has chosen Australian aged care as a focus. Our work has one purpose: when an adult child asks an AI system about aged care in your catchment, your operator is in the answer.
Across Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini. Real queries, real catchments, real specialisations. You see exactly which questions you're invisible for, and which competitors are winning them.
Not blog posts for blog posts' sake. Specific, evidence-based, AI-readable content covering the questions adult children actually ask before they contact a placement agency.
AI systems change. Citation rates move. Monthly tracking, quarterly strategy reviews, ongoing optimisation.
Six months in, citation rates start moving. Twelve months in, direct enquiries grow. Eighteen months in, you've reduced your placement agency dependency by a measurable amount.
That's the promise. We won't make a faster one.
We say this not to be precious. We say it because the wrong fit costs both of us months we won't get back.
Before any conversation about working together, we'll send you a free AI visibility snapshot for your operator. Hand-prepared. Real queries. Real data. About six pages. No call required.
If what we show you is useful, we'll talk. If not, you keep the snapshot and the insight.
Request your snapshotOr email gert@seoleverage.com with "AgedCareGEO snapshot" in the subject. Australian time zone replies within 24 hours.
Most marketing pages end here with a promise that things can be different.
This one ends with something simpler.
The shift to AI-led search is already happening. The operators who move first will own the citation slots for the next decade. The operators who wait will buy their way back in, expensively, through ads and referral fees.
If you've read this far, you probably already know which one you want to be.
